Evoking the hazy surrealism of a once forgotten dream, the San Antonio-based multi-instrumentalist has built a devoted global audience through ethereal soundscapes, hand-crafted visuals and songs that feel both deeply personal and universally comforting. Her music pairs swelling, ambient textures and dream-pop charm with an intimacy that feels like eavesdropping on an artist in conversation with herself, unfolding with a quiet vulnerability.

Mia Rasmussen spent her early years expressing herself through drawing and painting rather than music before beginning to craft songs alongside, and at the urging of, friends in the local music scene. As she taught herself guitar and bass, she slowly pieced together an artistic language all her own, absorbing influences like Radiohead, Fiona Apple, Mitski and Aphex Twin – though her work remains guided less by genre than by feeling.

Her 2023 debut, flora maniia, was anchored by the 50 million-streamed hit “may you never forget me,” swirling hypnotic acoustic guitar, lilting synth pads and airy vocals into a reflection on love, memory and the universal desire to leave a lasting impression. More than just a viral success, the album was the sound of an artist following her instincts without concern for who might be listening.

Created before Temachii had a following of her own, and before she even knew terms like dream-pop or shoegaze, the songs carried both clarity and sincerity that helped them connect with millions of fans. Much of that is due to her creative process: Mia typically begins with imagery and emotion rather than lyric, allowing her music to emerge from both her subconscious and deep connection to the natural world. The same instincts shape her vocals. Like brushstrokes layered across a painting, harmonies drift, overlap and dissolve into one another, manipulated and stacked into lush arrangements that function as both melody and atmosphere.

The follow-up LP, akrasiia, arrived later that same year, revealing a more stripped-back side of her sound – shedding some of flora maniia's expansiveness for subtler arrangements and more hushed textures. Produced by longtime creative partner Pedro Olvera, the two albums, together with 2024 single "not/lost,” have helped transform Temachii's ever-growing fanbase into something more meaningful than simply millions of streams, social media follower counts and TikTok views: a space for listeners to feel both safe and seen.

Now, with new music on the horizon that continues to draw inspiration from pop, ambient, jazz, soul, painting, and the natural world, Temachii is entering her next chapter. With an audience that stretches from the United States to Latin America, a connection that feels especially meaningful given her Puerto Rican heritage, she continues to expand her reach.
